Montblanc Great Characters Andy Warhol Fountain Pen

The nerve to think differently. The courage to break traditions. The will to overcome barriers. There are people who possessed this mentality and who, over the past century, have altered the course of history, changed our perception of the world and set new standards in art, culture, politics and science. With the Great Characters Editions, issued for the first time in 2009, Montblanc honors the great figures from history with their groundbreaking work. Handmade by master craftsmen and issued in a strictly limited edition, these exclusive writing instruments are a fascinating tribute to the legacies they left behind.
The Great Characters Edition Andy Warhol is paying tribute to one of the major proponents of the Pop Art Movement. With his striking works, Andy Warhol broke down the barriers between ‘high art’ and ‘commercial art’ and made a sensation turning the ordinary into the extraordinary. The complementary contrast between the cobalt blue precious resin of the barrel and the narrow orange rings on the cone and forepart reflect the color variations in Warhol’s Colored Campbell’s Soup can series from 1965, which are also carefully worked into the stainless steel cap. A dollar sign is finely engraved on the handcrafted, rhodium-coated gold nib of the fountain pen, while the squeegee he used in silkscreen printing is captured in the design of the clip. The cap ring of the edition is adorned with an engraving of Warhol’s signature.
