The Platinum Karakusa Blue Celluloid fountain pen features a hand-engraved chinkin pattern on a celluloid body with rhodium-plated trim. It is made with a 14k solid gold rhodium-plated Century nib.
The time-intensive process involved in producing the Karakusa Blue Celluloid begins with curing the celluloid. Afterwards, the delicate floral pattern is hand engraved from top to bottom using the Chinkin technique, in which a sharp instrument is used to cut the fine, narrow lines of a motif onto a lacquered surface. The lines are then filled in with metallic powder. Even the section features the silver colored design.
