The 1849 E-W Limited Edition is part of the Cosmopolitan Collection, through which Montegrappa expresses the art and pleasure to tell the story of a journey through the soul of a country.

The limited edition is inspired to the legendary epic of the gold rush which saw, starting from the year 1849, thousands of courageous individuals from all over the world undertaking the adventure of emigrating from the eastern states of America to the legendary West, E-W, in search of gold but also of a better life. An event which contributed to forging the American spirit with its optimism, tireless dynamism and belief in itself.

The story of this journey is traced on barrel and cap: the pioneers’ wagon trains give way to those of the gold prospectors, followed by the gradual colonization of California, the construction of gold mines and the building of the railway.1849 E-W is realized in low-relief engraving, an exclusive technique which Montegrappa has perfected to achieve an engraving of varying depth with an exceptional three-dimensional quality in its details, a true picture sculpted from precious metal.
