Alberto Santos-Dumont was a Brazilian aviation pioneer and heir of a wealthy family of coffee producers.  Santos-Dumont is considered the father of aviation and national hero in his homeland Brazil.  Santos-Dumont dedicated his life to the study of aeronautical study and experimentation in Paris, France where he spent most of his adult life.

As a tribute to his friend Alberto Santos-Dumont, Cartier created one of the first Santos-Dumont wristwatches in 1904.  The audacity of its screws and modern looks in detail which have given rise to the exquisite maison collection.

This style is reinterpreted by Cartier in this exceptional masterpiece.  The overall feel gives the writer a sense of the symbolic universe of the aviator.  This magnificent creation features solid gold screws which are riveted one by one to the streamlined keelson, a clip in the shape of a propeller, and ogive dome of the cap – both plated with a fine layer of gold.  The entire body is created with .925 sterling silver and precious materials.
