Platinum Urushi Izumo Ironwood Gloss Fountain Pen
This pen has been lovingly used. It comes complete with box and papers. It is equipped with an 18kt Broad nib.
Also known as the #21 Bombay Wood Tagayasan. As the name suggests, ironwood is one of the densest and hardest woods. Platinum has made an open edition of the classic Izumo shape in the beautiful and durable material and finished it to a high gloss with resin.
The cap profile is a smooth convex form which carries through to the barrel, where it turns concave before returning to a convex shape. Every surface is curved – there is hardly a straight line to be found.
The clip, the only piece of trim exposed on the closed pen, does the two-fold job of quietly announcing the maker’s name and holding the pen firmly in a pocket. This pen is a study in simplicity. It makes curves look easy.
